Tools and Resources

Word-of-mouth is the most powerful and elegant way to market great products and businesses. When my foodie friends tell me about an excellent restaurant in town, I make a reservation. When my book-nerd friends tell me about a terrific book they've read, I add it to my “to read” list. I rely heavily on recommendations given to me by people I trust. And I love telling my friends and family about the fantastic products and companies that have made my work and life better. Below is my curated list of tools and resources I believe will help you start and grow your photography business as well as a few non-photography, non-business ones too! Investing in the right tools will make your photography and business take off.

Software

Adobe Creative Cloud for Photographers - Adobe is the biggest software company dedicated to helping creatives like me an you produce our best posible work

SmugMug - SmugMug has been around for years and makes it super easy for any photographer to display or sell their work. I personally use SmugMug and have for years. They are actually the reason I decided to sell my work. Try them out yourself and I am sure you will be happy with them.

Gear

Sony a7ii with 28-70mm Lens - This is the exact body camera that I currently use. It's amazing! Such a powerful punch in such a small body pair this with the extra cash to get the newer Sony a7iii then that might be better but you will not be mad either way.

Sony 16-35mm FE F4 - This is my current favorite lens. I bought this lens when I upgraded my camera. I use this daily for general walking around, events, landscapes, astro, you name it I have shot it with this lens. I wish I had the Sony 16-35mm F2.8 GM but for double the cost I couldn't justify it, so it is staying on my wish list.
